Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost per square foot to construct a quality home in the community in which we desire to build?
Square foot prices vary depending on your taste in design, materials and interior selections. Van Son Construction will work with you and your architect prior to completing working drawings so that cost studies can be done and options are priced to meet your desired budget.
How long does the building process take?
After architectural plans are completed and approved, construction of a typical house takes approximately 8 – 11 months.
How do you select your subcontractors?
We select our subcontractors based on their quality workmanship, competitive prices, integrity, and prompt reliable service. With over 40 years of experience in this industry, we have found and use only local subcontractors who meet our high standards. We will review these “crafts people” with you prior to the start of construction.
What will be the means of communicating with you during the building process?
The client’s proximity to the project site will determine the means by which we communicate. We prefer day-to-day communication with our onsite supervisor either by phone or email.
How frequently will we meet and how will we stay informed about progress regarding the schedule and budget?
Bimonthly meetings onsite. In addition, Carl Van Son will provide you with monthly reports of actual project costs versus budget and updated project workflow schedules
Who will be our on-site project supervisor?
Van Son Construction has our own employees along with an individual job foreman assigned to each project. Steve Moberg, with over 35 years experience, is our custom home project manager.
How and where do we go to make interior and exterior selections?
We will refer you to suppliers who have done the best job for our previous clients in terms of quality, price and selection. You are also welcome to use any resources you may have available, to enhance your project.
Do you offer interior design services to coordinate these selections?
We do offer “in house” CAD design of general space utilization. Van Son Construction can also recommend various interior designers to coordinate and assist you with your selections.
